My girlfriends parents lent us a tent last year to use in Swanage as we didn't have one, it was an old style one, huge, you simply had to lay the base, peg it in and then hoist it up with a couple of polls in the middle, it was AWSOME! Loved it, I could stand up in it (6'2"), any oldies on here that might be able to suggest a make or something?

Yeah teepees, lavvus or bell tents are quite popular now. Expensive though, for icelandic/patrol ridge size tents then I think I've see them for about £400, teepees from the likes of Tentipi will probably end up around £800 depending on the model and options :)

Canvas tent from an army surplus shop maybe?. My dad used to sell them in all kinds of sizes (dark green canvas, ex uk/dutch military tents), so they're out there.. Google string 'army surplus canvas tent' or some such. Iirc they were very cheap too, compared to 'normal' tents. I don't recall seeing one over £75.

Like all that you guys have suggested, but with a 'floor' though.

Thanks for all the help so far anyway!
