Hey all,
So I'm a bit out of the loop hardware wise, currently I'm using the following:
Enermax 431W PSU
DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D
AMD X2 4400+
2GB PC3200 DDR RAM
ATI X850 XT PE
~1.5TB HDD
outputting to 50" Panasonic plasma
The system is fine for everyday use but is becoming increasingly dated when it comes to gaming, especially given the lack of SM3.0. I'm not a big gamer - in fact I mostly play Team Fortress 2, but it would be nice to play COD:MW2, Batman Arkham Asylum and other games that will be released in future.
I think my main issue right now is the graphics card, but to upgrade that I pretty much need to upgrade my PSU. Will new PSUs still have all the pins for my mobo?
Money is an issue right now - certainly don't want to spend more than £300 if I can help it but if its time to upgrade, I guess £600 is reasonable. I know you have to bite the bullet sometime, but is there anything big around the corner that I should hold off for? (I'm happy to wait another few months if its worth it)
If I did upgrade, then I don't need a case, dvd drives et al, keyboard, mouse or monitor. But could do with another big HDD and would also like a mobo that has a minimum of 6 SATA ports (and preferably 8), and also 2 SP/DIF outs (can be either coax/optical) if they exist, else I would have to budget for a soundcard in there too. I've also already got a copy of Windows 7, so can concentrate on hardware costs only.
Cheers,
