Hello all.

I have had one of my old motherboards lying around and have decided I want to getting it back running again. The motherboard is an Asus K8V Deluxe.
Now I can not remember what the socket type is as I would need to get another proceser. It is AMD and given its age if I could find whatever the top proceser could be would think it would be cheap as chips now. Also MEM as much as I could fit I think max would be 3gb.
I have looked on asus website and I can not understand the proceser listing for what one I would need. Any help and advise Please.

Google says socket 754 Athlon 64

RAM up to 3Gb PC3200

(that took at least thirty seconds to find out :D)

Yes I had worked that much out what I was after was a link to a company that might still sell the right stuff. tryed looking on amonzon but it was not detailed enough.

Hey jones2636 :)

Im would say its a better idea to just sell the older ASUS K8V Deluxe @ auction and use the money to build an updated system . . . suprisingly the older kit sells for quite good money!

If you start spending out on a "top processor" and "3GB of DDR" memory and AGP graphics cards to fit the old motherboard you will most likey spend nearly the same money as modern budget system and have a slower computer?

Unless you got some of the older parts as well as the motherboard hanging around it makes more sense to sell it and base your second system around something a bit newer!

Can't link to competitors on this forum.

Also you did say in your OP that you didn't know the socket type.

Oh I am so glad you know this was a second system at the start of reading your reply I did think oh god he thinks this is my main system.
Ahhh I have just found the amd proceser for it and have an old AGP card the only thing I would need to get for it is a cheapo HD and a better case as the old case I had for this had teriable airflow.
