Hi all,

I have just completed a Windows XP re installation on an ageing Toshiba Satalite laptop ( PS241E-5G7U9-EN ) and cannot find a working driver for the WLAN anywhere.

I have tried the one on the Toshiba website but it doesn't install.

I bought the laptop 2nd hand a few years ago so it may have had the original card replaced.

The details I have from the card itself are as follows:

SNC23456751309222 (on a white sticker next to chipset)

ISL 3886IK M0406F333 (on the chipset)

00904BD69449 1A C5CBB (on a white sticker with barcode on reverse of card)

I have googled the above numbers but still cant find any driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have spent most of the day trying and am liable to throw the flippin thing out of a window soon.

Cheers

Try this:

  1. Open up the device manager (press [start]+[r] to bring up the run dialog and enter devmgmt.msc).
  2. Find the wireless card (it'll have an exclamation mark next to it)
  3. Double click on it.
  4. Go to details
  5. Change the property to 'Hardware IDs'
  6. Copy/paste everything in the value box here
