Old Trafford being evacuated

Awarding Bournemouth a win isn't a points deduction to Utd though - they could lose the game anyway.

I'm only really commenting on what you brought up, I have no idea how likely it is Utd will get in any trouble let alone a points deduction however Utd hired this company so they're ultimately responsible still.
Could the FA not 'cancel' the game and award the three points to Bournemouth for 'winning'? Then that is a points deduction as we'd have 'played' 38 games but be on the same points as we were after 37 games.

I really don't think it works like that. Awarding Bournemouth the win assumes Utd would have got at least a point from the game and still doesn't deduct them any points.

When Boro were docked 3 points in the PL we literally had 3 points removed. When we then played Blackburn we needed to win just to end up with the same points we had, had we never played them.

You'll find the clubs ticketing policy will be pretty much in line with that of the FA so they will be covered for that:

So free readmission or refund and nothing else, which is perfectly reasonable.

The thing is a clubs ticket policy carries zero legal wait. If there is a tort, it will be disregarded.

I don't know if there has been negligence. If there has been, it will depend on how hard it is to prove this in court.

It's not entirely pointless, don't forget that if they don't win they finish 6th and a Cup win isn't guaranteed. It could be the difference between group stage Europa League and qualifying round Europa League for them.

If Liverpool win the Europa League, I don't believe 6th places qualifies at all.

Have a read of this...

UEFA Europa League

Manchester United are guaranteed at least sixth place in the BPL, which alone would earn them a place in the UEL qualifying round. Avoiding defeat against AFC Bournemouth would earn United fifth and a guaranteed place in the UEFA Europa League group stages.

If United lost to AFC Bournemouth they would still be able to qualify for the UEL group stages through winning the FA Cup.

Southampton's 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace confirmed a place in the UEL, by moving up to fifth. They will remain there and earn a place in the UEL group stage if Man Utd lose to AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday.

If Man Utd earn at least a point against AFC Bournemouth, sixth will earn Southampton a third qualifying round place in the UEL. If United win the FA Cup it would guarantee the Saints a place in the group stages.

West Ham United, in seventh, need Man Utd to win the FA Cup on 21 May to earn a UEL place, in the third qualifying round.

Crystal Palace can spoil the Hammers’ hopes if they win the FA Cup on Saturday. That would earn them a place in the UEFA Europa League group stages for 2016/17.

I've read the same... so I think that Manchester United can reach the UEFA Europa League group stages if they don't lose against AFC Bournemouth... and if Liverpool wins the UEFA Europa League tomorrow also the 6th place surely qualifies at all...

I remember going on holiday a day or so after the terror attack on Glasgow Airport in 2007, when security was supposed to be at it's highest and only when I arrived in Cyprus and was unpacking did I notice I had a penknife and a lighter in my hand luggage.

I flew back from Europe the day before the Brussels attacks and didn't realise I hadn't taken my fluids out of my bag for inspection until we got beyond security. Not quite as criminal as you but in general just highlights how easy it is to wander onto aircraft with supposedly restricted items. We did it without even trying.

Surely you wouldn't let it get out of hand to the point that it calls the game off and ruins thousands of people's day though?!? Maybe check someone finds the device and evacuate the ground but at that point say it was a dummy device.

There was a guy from Sierra Leone come to that game according to the bbc! If you'd spent thousands of pounds to come to the game you'd be more than a little annoyed if they'd done it on purpose!!!

Yeah I don't really believe it myself as in this day an age if you pulled such a stunt somebody would leak it afterwards, but in terms of doing a 'proper' drill you wouldn't have much other option. They do practice evacuations in tube stations for example. Heck wasn't there some shopping centre fake attack as a drill in Manchester quite recently?
