I don't know much about how windows works behind the scenes, so im not really sure what to do in this situation.

I have had three accounts under this computer (this is infact my mums computer)

Original User was - Irene
Then i made - Scott (because my computer was broken)

Once i fixed my computer i deleted - Scott

However i wanted an account on the computer so i made - Scott A
This user got infected by a trojan (it only seemed to effect that account, so i deleted it)

Now Irene is the only account (virus free etc.) but under the users there are still folders for all the old accounts (which i can not delete)

What are my options?

sorry hope this makes sense, I'm not very good at describing computer problems.

You need to log on as an Administrator, or an account with Admin privileges. You will then need to take ownership of the folders you want to delete. You can find steps on taking ownership here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421 [the instructions are for XP, but the process is pretty much the same in Vista].

Before you try that, you should see if you can delete the profiles through the profile applet built into the system. Right-click on Computer then click Properties. Then click Advanced system settings on the left. Now click Settings under the User Profiles section.

I tried the second part first, the only under the advanced system settings | User Profiles are : Irene & Mcx1.

So should i just use the first method?

also which Temp folders would actually be attributed to Irene?

Since there is : TEMP.Irene-PC.000 & TEMP.Irene-PC

Thanks
Scott

it wasn't working at first even once i gained ownership but I've resolved the problem and managed to get rid of the folders.

It was a problem with trusteer rapport, still had roaming data or something in the folder so i had to stop trustee and then delete the folders.

Thanks again.

Windows has a profile manager if you right click on my computer and go to advanced system settings, then click the advanced tab, then go to profiles button, you can delete entire profiles from that dialog. That is the best way to remove profiles from a system. (windows 7)
