Old WUS from 1999

As sad as it sounds it seems like the SETI admins don't care about finding ET anymore. It's like the day-to-day management fo it all is just a bit too much for them to have time to worry about anything else. "It's not important that we analyse new things becasue we've been sweeping the same 405 of the sky for seven years. It is more important that we keep the servers up and running with WUs to hand out, validity be damned." I see it as a growing trend, not caring about the science that is, even among SETI enthusiasts. :(

I think it's difficult to care about the science when, as far as we know (I know?) they haven't actually found anything yet.

Looking into this just now I found the ocuk wikipedia article. I didn't realise good ol' Ocuk was, and is, so high up in the seti stats - first place at the end of classic. Good stuff.

Just read that and panicked slightly as the owner (?) of ***** has the same name as me, wasn't sure if it was a typo or not, but it appears to be true

EDIT: huh, it's starred out

this is again wh i left seti i think the actual science value is very low, unless something is found which is incredibly unlikely then the CPU time is effectivly wasted, also the admins dont help with their forums and general cant be arsed attitude on moderation and WUs

It's name has been starred out ever since the disagreements mentioned in that article. Did 2-5k people really leave, sounds a bit high to me  I think it was only a small number from the SETI team, maybe quite a few from the forums though.
