Old x58 board GPU upgrade advice

I've got a relatively ancient Biostar Tpower X58 board, i7 920 @ 4ghz & 12GB of DDR3-1866. Currently running the original 9800GTX+ (yep, I don't really use this for games!).

I'd like to shove a new card in, mostly as it's struggling with an RC sim I use (just about any upgrade would be decent for this, according to the requirements). I do like a driving game, I've got Dirt 3 which runs like a dog on this card, so something that would run that nice would be ideal. Since I'm at the "bottom end" of the market, makes sense to get the most bang for buck....

It's so long since I looked at cards its confusing. I don't want to throw hundreds at it and have been looking at say 950GTX?

For a budget of £150, what would you recommend?

TIA for any replies!

The card linked above should be fine and a really nice upgrade. I am running a similar setup but with an OC 290 which performs similar. The 920 copes really well with it.

Much appreciated!

This afternoon something too good to turn my nose up at came over my desk quite by accident, i7 6700, 16GB HyperX DDR4, Nvidia GTX 1070, Samsung 950 evo 512GB, MSI Bazuka, decent case & PSU bundled with an Iiyama G-Master GB2888UHSU Gold - I won't say how much but put it this way, less than what you can get the GPU & monitor for today. So I guess I have a new PC :) Now I just need to work out what to do with the other one :(

Sell it, x58 boards still sell pretty well for their age.

I'd never thought to sell it, the age of it. That said the 920 clocks nicely to 3.8/4 and it's still a nippy chip. I'll have a look on the internet tat bazzar and see what I might get for it :)

I just upgraded to the £180 asus rx480 dual oc on an x58 board and i7 920k @4ghz. Took it from Gibbos recommendation and tbh - i cant recommend it enough.

RX 480 for sure. Isn't bottlenecked by my X58 system at all in the games I play, although I use 1440p so 1080p might be different.

x58 boards sell for a lot because you can put old Xeons in them for pennies and they are still pretty quick.
