I'm really not up to speed with specifications of previous generation iPads so looking for some advice, if I may.
I have a DJI Mavic Pro drone, had it for a good few years and not flown it for ages but recently my 12 year old son has got interested in flying it so its been 'recommissioned' back into service. We had it out last weekend and he thoroughly enjoyed flying it.
I used to use an old first generation iPad Air with it, but that iPad has long since gave up the ghost. So when we flew the drone last weekend I just used my iPhone 12 Pro Max with the DJI Go 4 app. It worked perfectly, but I want to pick up a used iPad again to dedicate it to flying the drone. Now, DJI drones require an app to be installed on a phone or tablet in order to control the drone. The older drones like my Mavic Pro use an app called DJI Go 4. The newer current generation drones use DJI Fly. The older DJI Go 4 app is significantly less demanding/CPU intensive than the newer DJI Fly app.
From research I've carried out, an iPad mini 4 will easily run DJI Go 4. However I haven't decided if I want a slightly larger screen area than a mini can provide, or not. So what I wanted to know was which of the larger iPads have a similar (or better) CPU performance as the iPad Mini 4? So essentially looking at iPad Mini's/iPads (I see there are many generations of the original sized iPad) and the iPad Air 2/3/.
I could easily go out and buy an iPad Mini 6 of course and be guaranteed the required performance (in fact its likely to be complete overkill for an older drone such as the original Mavic Pro) but I would initially be happier buying an older, previous generation iPad which will work well, in case my son looses interest in flying the thing.........you know what kids can be like!!
So yeah, looking for some advice on spec, as detailed above.
Cheers in advance for any advice
