When it comes to batches for turions apparantly. I guess they have the process tuned and only use the quality of silcon they need.

I grabbed one of the oldest G2 stepping CPUs around (week 27 year 2007) and snatched it off that place to get such things for a bit over £40.

Stock speed is 2ghz (TL-60), voltage range is 1.075-1.125 stock voltage. My original chip (week 28 year 2008) was 1.125 and this one is 1.075. Actually it only needs 0.875v to be OCCT stable :D

Old one would go up to around 2.3ghz at its stock voltage. This one is doing 2.43ghz at 1v. Certainly keeps the machine cooler and makes it a little faster.
It's letting the ram stretch its legs too, 972 DDR2 6-5-5-18.

Clocking my GFX to the point it really needs external cooling I grabbed this 3dmark run:

I also get 3978 on the cinebench multicore render test (under windows 7 64bit)
