When it comes to batches for turions apparantly. I guess they have the process tuned and only use the quality of silcon they need.
I grabbed one of the oldest G2 stepping CPUs around (week 27 year 2007) and snatched it off that place to get such things for a bit over £40.
Stock speed is 2ghz (TL-60), voltage range is 1.075-1.125 stock voltage. My original chip (week 28 year 2008) was 1.125 and this one is 1.075. Actually it only needs 0.875v to be OCCT stable
Old one would go up to around 2.3ghz at its stock voltage. This one is doing 2.43ghz at 1v. Certainly keeps the machine cooler and makes it a little faster.
It's letting the ram stretch its legs too, 972 DDR2 6-5-5-18.
Clocking my GFX to the point it really needs external cooling I grabbed this 3dmark run:

I also get 3978 on the cinebench multicore render test (under windows 7 64bit)
