I first took lessons at 17, the instructor I had was quite frankly a word beginning with b that rhymes with plastered.
A few lessons with him put me off for a good while, completely knocked my confidence. I then lost my job and was unemployed for quite a long time so couldn't afford any lessons. When I was working again I had a job only a few minutes walk from where I lived and so didn't really see the need for a car.
It wasn't until I got married and had a young family that I felt the need to learn.

I heard that my original driving instructor was out with a pupil one day and told them to drive him home as he felt unwell. He was dead from a heart attack within half an hour of getting home. Always thought he looked stressed!
