OLED Care, What options do you use??

Just for the people who have an OLED for a while now. I am wondering what options you have turned on in the monitor's settings to combat burn in?

The following options are on the Philips Evnia OLEDs. I am sure most manufacturers have something similar.

Pixel Orbiter
Screen Saver
Multi Logo Protection
Boundary Dimmer
Taskbar Dimmer
Thermal Protection
Pixel Refresh

Some of these options have various levels, not only on and off. The Pixel Refresh runs after so many hours and that can't be turned off completely, only postponed.

Are there any downsides to turning them on? Do they have much impact on the picture quality or the performance of the monitor?

Or are they all just over kill these days and keeping on top of the Pixel refresh is enough to keep an OLED monitor in good shape?

Auto hide taskbar
Transparent task bar
No desktop icons
No background
Dark mode
Dark reader
Anything else that the LG TV does automatically

Not even a hint of burn in on any of my oleds despite many many hours of gaming and desktop work.

Some of the basic LG settings like pixel shift etc but from Windows just set a screensaver to turn on after a few minutes.

I use all of them except thermal and turn off pixel orbiting/shift if it causes issues with games/aiming in anyway.
Most monitors can't even do accurate HDR1000 anyway TB400/500 so monitors are playing it safe, even without these features used to be honest.

Kind of off topic but what do you guys use to clean the screen? Tried microfibre with some distilled water but leaves some streaks. Not sure if im using enough water or not?

is there another better solution that to use that? This is for a glossy screen

I only have dust on mine, so very gently with this:

I did get some grease on one of my screens from my head a few weeks ago, a few wipes with a microfibre cloth removed it. Didn’t even need water.

Autohide taskbar,
Dark theme for Windows,
Pixel shift on (not for everyone but doesn't bother me)
Default care settings on the LG menu

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression now, that burn in etc, was not an issue, and you didn't have to do any of this, or worry about it happening?
I did ask recently in another thread, and was told it isn't a thing anymore, and many people have owned X amount of OLED's for years and never had burn in, be it TV or monitor?

It's most definitely a thing and comes with the territory. It's miles better than it was but if you meet certain conditions, you'll get burn-in at some point. I mean look at all the tools people install to protect their monitors.

I'd love an OLED monitor I really would (I have 3 OLED TVs), but I can't do it because constantly protecting it would always be on my mind.

Thanks mate, that was my fear, I don't think I will risk it; I don't like the idea of it being in the back of my mind all the time, especially on a long gaming session with a HUD.
I don't like the idea of having to baby it with tools, or turn HUDS off etc. I guess I'll stick with IPS :D

You shouldnt really - OLED care is more something to be aware of... and the auto cleaning should be enough.

What you dont want to do is leave a news channel running all day every day as that will cause issues

It still exists but has improved, I did see someone say they used an OLED for over 14,000 hours without burn in so I would imagine they did not have static images much .

I just use:
Autohide taskbar,
Dark theme for Windows,
No desktop Icons
Pixel shift and Pixel refresh every 4 hours.

Thats it. If the screen gets burn in - its got a 3 year warrnety against it if it happens after that ill just buy a new panel.

I use all of the Gigabyte (MO34WQC2) OLED care features that came with the monitor.

rtings have done deliberate burn in tests.

Nice! Yeah it's things like HUDS on screen in long gaming sessions, that I worry about.
Downstairs I watch Sky News even when I'm not watching Sky News :D
"Tell me you watch Sky News, without watching Sky News" :P

I'll check it out, thanks :)

Tbh if I was only gaming, I’d definitely go for it, but I use my monitors for work every day too and it’s that that would worry me. Sorry I should have been clearer on that.

Even with the mass amounts of static HUDs on everything - I don't want to turn them off, for the price of an OLED, I'm not whiling to compromise :P
Yeah I use it for a multitude of things, so it definitely worries me!
Yes you should be sorry, I hope you feel really bad and disgusted with yourself!

Just kidding :P
