Man.. I just tried to log in and my account must have expired or something I haven't visited Overclockers.uk forums since 2007 apparently.

I am hopefully going to be in the market within the next month or so and will be finally rejoining the world of PC gaming at long last!!!

I've been doing a lot of research but I am sure as time goes on I'll have more questions.

At the moment I just wanted to ask if anyone here thinks that OLED gaming is a good option?

For what I am intending to use the new PC for is some VR gaming in the lounge where its more of a social setting rather than having the rig in my bedroom.

My idea is to wall mount the OLED TV and have it connected via eARC HDMI 2.1 running to an AVR unit as the OLED Screen will be used as a gaming monitor and also for watching movies on.

Now everyone out there who's into OLED gaming says that the LG C2 is "THE" screen to go for, but in all honesty, I've been eyeing the Philips 55" 807 with it's new OLED EX board and 8ms response time @120hz in 4K.

I have no idea how good OLED gaming is, or what it's even like to game @ 4k 120hz on a 55" let alone a 27" @ 240hz.

I suppose first thing I need to know would someone running an AMD 6950XT (or hopefully 7900 XTX) on a 55" OLED screen be disappointed if the screen is only able to do 120mhz and 8ms response time? Also does anyone use AMD Freesync premium? What's that like?

Many thanks in advance for any replies. :)

Such old non-active account might have indeed gotten removed.

If you have normal monitor for normal PC use with static content and can also fit OLED TV that's certainly best of both worlds approach.
Because of fragility of that fancy organic part OLED still struggles to get onto PC desk.
Even though compared to LCDs response times of self emissive techs are basically perfect.
(frame rate based maximum lag is entirely different thing)

I use a 48inch CX OLED as a monitor. It changed my life :D

It’s an expensive solution but I have not experienced anything that suits me better and I have tried a lot!

I used a 3090 then 4090 (which is much better at 4k) so sorry have no idea about AMD solutions. The adaptive sync works brilliantly though.

Ok. Cool. This is good news then. Just out of interest does your LG CX 48" screen run at 120hz?

If you think 120Hz OLED TVs costs lot, you better not check what LG charges for retro 60Hz OLED monitors...
