OLED Upgrade?

Any opinions on whether this is worth it. I currently have a LG oledb7 but I could upgrade to the OLED55B9PLA for around £200 due to a voucher and mate willing to buy my b7 off of me. Only thoughts on doing this is for the earc upgrade as bought the new Sonos Arc and wouldn't mind having the Apple TV app. Wasn't planning on upgrading the TV anyway for at least a good few more years until whatever tech they go with, but wondering whether to pull the trigger on this.

My only concern is I have a perfect panel with no issues what so ever so fear of issues on a new one is my only concern.

Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

More movies really. Do have a switch and plan to get a PS5 when it comes.

Going to sell it for £600 to him, then have a voucher and a works perk discount to bring the price down.

However if it's not going to be a huge upgrade, id rather save the £100 voucher and 10% discount code which is valid until end of 2021.

It was more about having the earc port upgrade for the Sonos arc to get the true hd sound.

I was about to pull the trigger but the places where I could get the C9 don't have any stock now :( Searching around I can't find it anywhere in stock now.

I might just go for the LG OLED55BX6LA if I can't find one, but not sure when that comes out... The 55CX would mean dropping £700 which I don't really want to do.

The op said OLED55B9PLA is a B9 not a C9, that model is OLED55C9PLA !

OP is going from a B7 to a B9.

plenty of C9 stock about if you look for it.

I was initially Varkanoid, but then realised how much the C9 had dropped in price.

However as for plenty of stock, I can't find one anywhere other than Ebay and ideally wouldn't risk that without a 5 year warranty or being able to return it.

Well things escalated a little bit hahaha. I ended up calling to see when the BX was coming in stock and sadly it's not expected until late August maybe September.

Managed to get suckered into a deal over the phone, but hey ho I don't plan on changing my TV or Sonos Arc setup now for many years to come.

Got quite a good deal though. If I can get £100 for the headphones then well a new 2020 for for £1359 (after using £100 voucher) I am happy with that.

Yes sadly it's an extra £700 instead of £200, but not the full £1549 at least. But after reading countless reviews and watching YouTube videos, I feel I've made the right choice. I'd probably want to upgrade the B9 otherwise after a couple of years, where as I plan to go at least 5 hopefully more now with this set. The only additional thing I may add is the Sonos sub just to complete the arc and play 1's.

Made the correct choice personally, I mean I don't know how the B9 compares to the C9?, but the C9 and CX are very much similar and the CX being newer, for another £500 its a no brainer.

I may get the sub at a later date, I hope I like the ARC sound, I see a lot are unhappy with it being overly bright/harsh sounding, but I believe using an older iPhone helps when setting up trueplay, whatever the issue I hope sonos solve it for those that find it bright sounding.

Something was off at the start with my sound. The voices sounded like they were under water. Even though they were louder and clearer with other things going on, it had this tinny effect.

I had to dig an old Ipad out from the cobwebs (completely android house setup now), so glad we didn't bin it, but oddly after using that to configure trueplay it completely transformed the system and got rid of the voice issue. Your find your rear speakers are a lot clearer with the arc as well once you've ran trueplay.

When performing trueplay, does it do all speakers in the setup at once, or do you need to run trueplay individually on each speaker?

Also did you wave the iPhone around the room or just in your sitting position.

Thanks

It asks you to sit first of all where you will normally be sitting, holding the device just in front of your face, then does it's usual beeping for however long it is. Once that is done, yes it asks you to go round the room waving it about like a chicken :D Does all the speakers at the same.

Heard rumors a ipad works better than an iphone, but could be a load of bs.

:D

Thats good then, I thought might have to do all speakers separate, but makes sense that you would set it all up together.

Has your arc shipped yet?

My work colleague ordered after you and his has just been sent out today.

Going bit back on topic, any particular setting your are using on the TV for films etc? Read that you can get away without having to turn off all the trumotion stuff also on this set.
