Olivia Newton John has died :(

Oh that’s a proper shame.

Whenever I hear her name, I’m still reminded of Red Dwarf.

Holly: What I'm saying, Dave is, it's better to have loved and lost than to listen to an album by Olivia Newton-John.
Cat: Why's that?
Holly: Anything's better than to listen to an album by Olivia Newton-John.

Aw, jeesus! Bernard Cribbens last week, the voice of my childhood, and now one of the most memorable and, er, formative stars of my adolescence joins him. She just seemed so darned wholesome, talented and -- as if it needs saying -- beautiful.

Sorry to have a good excuse to post this...

I was 9 when I saw her in Grease. There were definite stirings.

Even though I wasn't born but I remember briefly late 80s in school going into the 90s, there was a lot of talk of Farrah Fawcett which was around the same time as Olivia in the 70s, early 80s.

Strangely, I've actually never watched Grease. Seen Grease 2 numerous times. My mother always admired Olivia and spoke of her a lot back then.

Still cannot get over cancer has claimed another.

She was so ******* hot in Xanadu. Quite possibly the most beautiful woman on the planet at the time.
Hell yeah, gorgeous woman. I am not ashamed to say I absolutely love Xanadu. Yeah the story and the acting is pretty trash and even Gene Kelly couldn’t save but it was pretty fun in my opinion, Suddenly with Cliff Richard(I only found out a few years ago it was him) is one of my favourite duets.

Very very sad news RIP. :(

As soon as that song starts it takes me back to a wonderfully happy childhood in the 70's and 80's.

From all the footage I've seen of 70s America, it looked quite an awesome place. Basking in sunshine and a different way of life. Obviously I'm only seeing the good parts but there is nothing else I can judge. Where 70s Britain footage always seemed to look so ancient and gloomy. 70s America seemed to look ahead of its time in a way compared to Britain's timeline.
