It's been an incredible day for team GB. The atmosphere is unbelievable and would have loved any seat in the stadium or even within the park itself. End of the 1st week, bring on the 2nd week

If I were her, I'd probably withdraw from the hurdles, better to leave the olympics with the memory of tonight, rather than possibly tarnish it with a disapppointing run

From the video, it looks like he is in the air for roughly 1 second and travels just over 8 metres.
That gives a take off speed of around 17mph.

He was the one that pushed for and got funding for the olympics I think. His actual intention wasn't so much because of the games but because he wanted to get the east end of london renewed.
