Olympus E-P1 - thoughts?

Looks lovely, but I was recently told that the lens selection is extremely limited. Is that really the case?

Yes but the mFT is an open format adopted by Panasonic and Olympus, and with competition between the EP1 and G1, apparently Fuji wants a slice of it - so this might bump up the lens collection.

Do not forget, the mFT has only been out recently with the Panasonic GH1.

Any FourThird lens (slightly bigger version for FT cameras like the Olympus E420 e.t.c.) can also fit the mFT cameras with a small adaptor which allows for autofocus, exposure, however, this will increase the size of the overall body as FT lens are bigger than mFT but smaller than most cropped sensor's lens size.

Any of these FT lens fits via an adaptor;

And do not forget about Olympus OM's legacy lenses which also fits via an adaptor BUT 99% do not had autofocus but exposure should work fine.

I had a quick play with one in a shop, and I have to say as a DSLR user looking for a capable pocketable compact, it's just not pocketable enough.

If you want image quality you take your DSLR with you, if you want a camera with you all the time, the 4/3 cameras just aren't small enough.

I can see that argument for most people, for me though it is small enough, I travel a fair bit with work at the moment and it's always nice to have camera with me - a D200 even with just the 17-55 lens is a big bulky item to find space in my bag for, something like the E-P1 much less of a problem...
