Omega Seamaster model confusion - Rotty?

I'd been saving up to get myself a mid-size (spindly wrists, fullsize not an option, been there, tried it, looked silly) Seamaster (blue bezel, stainless, automatic) and now it looks as though Omega have revamped the range, introducing the co-axial movement and jumping the rrp by £500 (ouch!).

Do you know if the non co-axial mid size is still going to be produced? Does the co-axial movement offer many (any?) advantages over the old movement?

There is the non coaxial movement one aswell and is still available at around £1175 retail (Ive been looking myself). Ive also found out quite a few people moaning about the lack of decent time keeping on some of the watches with coaxial movements. My brothers Aquaterra one gains about 5+ secs a week which is frankly pathetic for such an expensive watch IMO, although it is getting better over time.

I believe the non co axial models are going to be discontinued

The Co Axial movement represents a great technical/design achievement and is regarded as the first truly new type of movement in a long time

Does it have any advantage over the old ETA based movements in real life ? probably not, it has the potential for greater accuracy but they don;t seem to be regulated to that level in the retail market

IMO they should have kept this CO Axial for premium models but it would appear that they are using this change to significantly increases prices

If you can find a new version of the old model the I would say go for it

5+ seconds a week is superb for a mechanical watch

I am going to look into whether the old model is continuting as yourinfo seesm to differ to mine

just had a read around and while I can't find anything definitive it does appear that the old models are being discontinued

Sorry got it wrong, it was 5+ seconds a day but it would seem that is within spec for the watch as spec is +6 secs a day. Thats still over half an hour over a year !! I guess I must be expecting a lot :o

If you expect tip-top accuracy, get a quartz watch I guess. Accuracy is way down the list of expectations when buying a mechanical one.
