OMFG WHAT SHOULD I BUY!!!!!

how come u dont go for ocz? they are cheap ass. paying that much for dd2 isnt that worth it now, since all comming down price.

Both will probably do similar frequency tbh. PC8000 kits are the same as PC6400 kits that are tested to do PC8000. Because the G.skill kit is already rated at PC8000 it probably won't do much higher than that. The ballistix should easily do PC8000 and much more but they die just as easily as soon as you start pushing it.

If you're not sure which one the G.skill is a better bet.

Hmmm, sounds like the G.skill it is then. I was all for the flashing lights of the ballistix but if they die like that its pretty pointless.

I was thinking of the OCZ reaperx but you can only fit 2 modules in, so in the future if I wanted to upgrade I'd be a little stuck.

It was the old 1GB modules of Ballistix that died a lot, these higher density modules (and the new single sided 1GB modules) should be better.

I'd go for the cheapest 2x2GB set, they all clock about the same and use the same chips.

I opted for the ballistix, great kit, mines currently sitting at 423mhz 4-4-4-12 with 1.95v. I recently built a friends pc with the 4gb 8000 g skill kit, again very good ram. Some people are having issues with both kits especially on x38 mobos but i have not had any problems with either kit, both on maximus formulas. Crucials rma is a lot better than g skills (faster turn around) other than that go with what you prefer the look of.

well i push my PC6400 ballistix to the limit and have no problems with the sticks, 24/7 they run 1100Mhz+ (5-5-5-15, 2.2v) and fail at 1275Mhz, which is a bit annoying hehe cos it limits my graphics benching slightly.

get reaper, not reaperX, you dont need an even bigger heatpipe, my ram is COLD to the touch and if to guess id say they are below room temp?

Its impossible to have something below ambient temp unless you are using some form of extreme cooling.

Although I've had a couple of sticks of Ballistix die on me when overclocked, I'd probably still buy Crucial RAM due to the very efficient RMA service!
