*CALM* *CALM*

Right Total war had been downloading for like 3 days on my 512kb and now its gone, nada, nothing, vanished.

Steam crashed so I restarted the comp and its gone and if I go to the store it wants me to buy it again for £29.99 :o

What do I do ?

I'm going to the forums right away and yes I'm on the right account.
If I go onto program files Empire is there but of course only of what I downloaded so I cant play it.

The store won't tell you that you've already bought something. Goto your "My Games" tab instead and you'll see it in the "Not installed" section, or whatever it's called.

I've looked there and nothing is there apart from other games I havent installed.

Fixed it mother ****ers,
All I had to do was rename the steamblob thing.

If I have to download it all again the computer will be going out the window however.

Another problemo

When I pause a download on Steam I get like 500 ping on games grahhh and my TF2 patch won't download it just says download starting.

To be honest I'm at <200kb/sec on a line capable of 700 at the moment anyway so it doesn't matter too much. Also downloading Empire

I use firefox with the DownloadThemAll! addon that speeds up single file downloads unless of course Steam blocks it.

Side note: Seriously.?.. 512k internet and you are living in 2009 ?
Fixed :p.

Can't you get more or are you being a cheapskate ? 512k is something I started with, 7 years ago (if not more, I can't exactly recall in what class I got it but it was in primary school)...

You knew the game was this large though, why buy it if downloading it from steam is such a pain.

I cant possibly get more no, and it actually costs quite a lot £22 a month or something. I have told my parents to get onto orange and get the price lowered but they don't seem to care as its fast enough for them. But because we live something like 5km from the connection point we can't physically get any faster anyway, without moving away.

512K is like the minimum broadband I think :D so annoying.

Ouch that sucks, knowing me I'd actually move house for that reason :D. 512k would be terrible for me these days. I found using 3.6mbps 3g+ bad enough for a month .

Kane - I was told something similar by Tiscali - that my low download/upload were down to distance from the exchange, but technology has been improved at most exchanges since so it could be false. My understanding is that once your connection is setup initially it takes 10 days to set the rate it'll be at, after that it isn't recalculated or updated at all until you move ISP.

When I moved from Tiscali to IDNET, it was redone, Tiscali swore blind they couldn't give me more than 1MB down, the instant I went to IDNET I was upgraded to 6MB down. I've recently upgraded to IDNETs ADSL2+ package (same monthly as normal ADSL but only available on certain exchanges that BT have upgraded) and now I'm sitting on 11MB download.

It's worth considering switching to another ISP to see if you have luck like mine!
