Finished University today went back to my car to come home pressed the button on my alarm fob, nothing. Hmmm I thought not good so I tried again, and again nothing. At this point I was worried so I looked at my alarm fob and the buttons seemed mashed in and didn’t feel right when pressed, damm I thought I live 16 miles away with no way to turn my Alarm off, so after 5 mins of messing I did the only thing I could think off.....

Drove all the way home (40mins) with my alarm constantly going off. :o

Got a few funny looks as you would expect, I just turned the radio up and tried to ignore it, got literally 5 mins from my house I was on an nsl road when a police 4x4 passed in the other direction. I watched in my rear view mirror and waited for him to appear but nothing. As I got over the brow of the hill I saw a Police car parked up at the side of the road, he flashed his lights and I got pulled over. I received all the usual questions, name etc. the 4x4 turned up the driver got out and said "you know why we pulled you" to which I replied yes "we saw you bombing the other way with your alarm going off looked sus" I laughed and said I bet.

So they let me go on my way, as I entered the car the alarm went off again and the 4 officers stood there laughing. :o

Oh the shame, damm alarm. :o

Pull the rubber bits off, you'll see the proper plastic buttons underneath.

May try that later, i thought i only had one spare fob so i didnt want to damage it. :)

why didnt you just unplug the thingy in the engine bay ??

and a car with a decent alarm, wont even start if it goes off

I know im still wondering why it started.

it wil start and drive fine if it has no imobalizer. there is often a key or something you can use under the bonnet that turns it off. i know my mate has one like this becouse his fob is broken atm.

lmao at ** story tho thanks for sharing it:P

Mine wouldn't let me do that, the aftermarket alarm has another immobiliser - I tried when my keyfob battery ran out!

Hmm maybe it just has standard immobiliser, and aftermarket alarm. So the immobiliser turns off when the key is turned in the ignition?

Yeah the standard immob is built into the key on 98 onwards saxos, when you put the key in the ignition it dissarms it. But mine has another one aswell, if the alarm is armed even if you have the key but the alarm is going off you can't start the car.

I imagine the immobiliser would be disabled when the key was in the ignition. Otherwise people who's keyfob's were broken would be in a bit of a mess.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm. I'm surprised you didn't get a producer, know loads of people getting them recently.

I dont know if my car has an immobiliser then because i cant see anywhere in the key where the immobiliser would be.

It is an aftermarket alarm, im surprised i didnt get a producer they didnt ask for any documents or any id, i think they were to busy laughing. :D

The chip in the key is very small...even my 98 Micra had one. Fair enough on that it was red. The immobiliser kicked in when the key gave up the ghost. I was in Aberystwyth, with no spare key like a numpty.

Hold the key with the citroen chevrons facing upwards, now above this is the metal part of the key, next to it is a little square - thats got the chip in it!

Also as a little test, imagine you are doing a bank robbery. Get in your car that quickly, shove the key in and turn it. Half the time my car won't pick up the chip in the key and a little key icon flashes on the dash and the car won't start. Thats Citroens for you ;)
