OMG, somebody has been using my wireless network!!!

It lost the settings when you turned it off? How bizarre, mine has never lost settings and it's been off for 2 months!

That's exactly what I thought.

Theres so many things he could have done if you were both active. Got interactive command line access - easy to do. Access to all your hard drives. could have installed programs like WinVNC. Injected you with worms/virus'/trojans etc etc, Format a hard drive if you have 2 or more.

Luckily though it seems he had no idea what he was doing!

V Lucky sir!

Give me a worse case scenario please
when the police knock down your door looking for weapons of mass destruction and kiddy PrOn you will know what he was doing :D

Oh he should be easy to spot, he's probably got a nice new F40, you'll notice a delivery van driver struggling to wheel 10 60" LCD's and a Russian bride out of the back of his van, the new builders/plumbers/gas fitters van that's always parked up across the road 24/7 with the back windows blacked out pointed in your general direction coupled with a car/van/bike that you are sure has started following you to work and the BT engineer who is probably sneaking up the telegraph pole as you read this (go on look... you know you want to), the postman complaining about his hernia from carrying the 147 reams of paper that make up your bank statment and credit card bills this month oh and the RIAA legal notice.

Now if you think for one moment anyone will fall for this pathetic attempt to defer all of the above by claiming 'hey I posted on ocuk that someone else was using my connection so it must be true' they won't and neither will we ;) You are clearly guilty of all the above and far, far worse. Just remember if you drop the soap then you probably don't want to get it back :D

OMG - i've never herd so much scaremongering BS in my life. In reality this person hasnt been injecting worms, stealing your details or anything else nasty.

Chances are, with 99.99999% of the cases like this is your neighbour either accidently connected, or saw it was unsecured and thought they would use your connection because they dont have one of their own. Its not rocket science and its hardly life threatening espionage, tis either completely innocent or slightly naughty, but unlikely to be a l33t h4x0r or whatever you scaremongers call them!

accidents do happen but people who dont secure their networks with even the most minimum security method deserve everything they get. you dont get out your car and leave the door open do you, you're just inviting trouble.

Sounds like a confession to me ... it was slime101 ;) Joking aside if you read the opening post DreXel did ask for a worst case senario and this is tounge in cheek take on exactly that so OMG as much as you want, the truth could be 1000000x worse but it's highly unlikley to be. Now where are my 10 Chuffing 60" LCD's and Russian bride ... I tell you never trust a delivery man !

LOL, I took all the tongue-in-cheek stuff as it was intended. Yes, I did ask for worse case scenarios, and that's what I got.
