Just done a new build (6700k, 16gb ddr4, gtx970, nzxt kraken x61 aio cooler).

Im at stock speeds but my idle temps are 13-15 degrees and 46 degrees at full load on intel burn test after 30 mins!

Checked the temps in realtemp, nzxt cam and both identical.

Well chuffed at that!!

leave the computer idling for 30 mins then measure the temp. This way is much more accurate since the temp will be in Equilibrium.

No way your idle temps can be lower than your ambient room temps. It's water not liquid nitrogen! Something's not right somewhere.

Jealous he's sat in a room that's 13c - not really, turn the central heating on FFS.

lol , my heating was on at thermostat to go off at 16 degrees (like it that temp)

Right , ive tried overclocking the cpu to 4.5 by just typing in 45 into the clock and leaving everything else on auto. Overclocks and when I run prime and open cpuz , the clock speed reduces randomly between 3800 and 4500, even on small ftp (was getting mid 40s temp wise). Realtemp only shows 23% load but taskmanager shows between 90 and 100% so thought realtemp was misreading. The thing is , even with speedstep disabled on the board, when its running prime it lowers the clock randomnly and the volts to 1.2.

Any ideas?

Matt

I'm sure every piece of software you get will read identical... They all use the same sensor!

Most AMD stuff reads inaccurately, particularly below 40ºC - My H100 was SO GOOD that it cooled a heavily o/c'ed FX6350 down to 9ºC... NINE DEGREES!!!!!
Nope - AMD just inaccurate.

By that same token, I would strongly expect there to be a likewise, but less-inaccurate factor of inaccuracy with Intel chips. But since my temps are low enough to keep me happy (a few degs above ambient on idle, usually), I haven't looked any further into it.

i dont think the sensors are that great tbh, my room temp is 16 degrees, my water temp is 17.4 and my cpu is showing as 17 degrees, i dunno how the CPU can be cooler than the water thats cooling it.

Man 16c is cold... I couldn't deal with my house being that cold all the time...

Yeah i run warm, most of my family do, i hate summer time. The good thing is i can wear a tshirt most of the year :)

I'm happy wandering around outside in a t-shirt in most weathers... I like it to be cozy inside.
16c is a good 3c colder than I'd be willing to deal with all year round.

When it gets over 20 degrees i start opening windows :) , for years i used to always have aircon running when i was at my PC, but when i moved into this flat ive not needed it as it doesnt catch the sun at all so it stays nice and cool for me most of the year.

Dunno if it has changed at all but it used to be very few CPUs were particularly accurate measuring temperatures below ~20C.

My CPU temps in a temperature controlled environment with the ambient pulled down to ~12C IIRC - max is after an hour of XTU.
