OmG...system shut down in 60seconds virus? back again cause iv got it!

just use any of the free cleaning tools. Trend or Mcafee Stinger are my favourites just boot into safe mode and run.

(trend appears to use a full definition file as Stinger is just a subset)

You should also be able to cancel the shutdown command by opening a command prompt and using 'shutdown -a' - That should let you scan away in peace :)

Atleast thats how I stopped it last time.

ah the blaster worm.. been a long time since i delt with one of them!
just google 'blaster worm' on a clean pc, download the removal tool to a cd/flash drive, and run it on the uinfected one

Just a thought, but installing an old version of MSN Messenger on some Vista / Win 7 systems can also cause this error when it tries to sign in (I believe an update broke it, but I couldn't tell you which) :)
Stumped me for quite a while!

type 'shutdown -a' into a CMD window when the shutdown message appears and that should suppress it for a while.

Get something like kaspersky trial installed (if you dont have the full version), its firewall will prevent it installing again and antivirus/antispyware should clean up the machine.

Once clean, download Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3, disconnect from the internet, uninstall kaspersky and install each service pack in turn.

You only need SP3, it includes all previous Service Packs and updates.

but it would stop your pc getting infected....it gets through when no firewall in enabled.

A firewall blocks traffic by certain filtering rules. If the data the virus arrived as was not in the filtering rule (HTTP etc.) then the firewall will not pick it up as it was not told to.

Please educate yourself in the point of a firewall.

did u ever get infected by the blaster worm ?
new install ...no firewall enabled and u were infected in minutes.
new install...internet unplugged....install firewall...enable internet and all was fine.
