OK this is driving me absolutely bonkers!!!

Constantly having buzzing through my headphones AND speakers!! And have no idea what to do!!
Rig is as per sig (sound card Xonar DG, graphics KFA 680 OC, and if it helps case is 650D and mobo is gigabyte Z68-UD3P)
'phones are goldring dr150 and speakers are edifier monitors sold here.

Methinks its interference but whats the solution???

Thanks

Furthermore I can move said sound card down for some bizarre reason it doesn't get recognised in the 2nd PCI slot. Also onboard is no better
Headphones are plugged direct in the sound card at the back, speakers in front panel connected to sound card

Had the same problem with my razer 7.1
If your headphones/speakers are usb powered then get a seperate wall powered usb socket.
fixed my buzzing

Nope always there - had to swap the headphones and speakers round since it was unbearable.
Bought the soundcard to try cure it but nope :(

The power cable from the PSU will be earthed, so as long as your mains extension is (assuming you are using one), then it's not likely to be an earthing issue. However, it could be a ground loop issue. I would expect that to affect the front case audio sockets more so than the sound card directly. More than likely EMI is the problem, possibly from the graphics card.

Well just plugged my PSU into the mains socket direct (as opposed to the tower extension I have) and its still buzzing!!

So yeah its seems EMI from my graphics card :(

SO what does one do? Foil onto cardboard and place on top of the soundcard????

Just a thought
Do you have any power adapters, plugged in near the PC. Like for Mobile phone, modem , speakers etc.
I had really bad buzzing in my head phones and that turned out to be the power adapter from my Virgin-media modem.

In the same boat as op, both Xonar DG and STX sound cards, I get a buzzing sound right as I start a video or play any type of sound, only hear it for like five seconds after and then it stops.

The only solution that I have found that works, that may help you, is to turn off SVN in the Xonar Audio Centre.

As above. Have got two similar isolation transformers on the connections from my stx to my amps and it stopped the buzzing noises coming through the speakers completely.

do those isolators actually work vs a virgin router near a sub woofer?

can any of you test it? I'm not convinced it's the actual wires as they can be near me modem but the sub box can't so it must be whatever circuit inside the sub box getting interference ?

A ground loop works as an antenna for stray EMI. An isolation transformer breaks the loop as it is galvanically isolated. In my case, the connections to my stx were introducing severe noise. (buzzing and whining) With the isolation transformers fitted, it is now totally silent even at maximum volume.
