Hey guys,

just got my big overhaul today done, new CPU, RAM and Motherboard..

The problem is though, it seems to idle ok around the 30c mark, but when under load it jumps into the 80c's

then the AIO fan kicks in loud and then the temps stabilize until the load is over, then returns down to the 30c's..

is this normal for a 7700K?

specs are, 16gb RAM, Gigabyte Z270X Ultra Gaming KL Mobo, and a i7 7700K.

Cheers IA guys!

If the AIO fan is only really kicking in around 80C, then that might explain why it's reaching around 80C in the first place. Some fan profile tweaking may be in order too. Raise the minimum RPM, and maybe set a lower temp (60-65C) for max RPM. If the minimum RPM is very low, it can't (start to) cope quick enough with the instant increase.

Problem guys, checked the aio, it should pulsate white on and off while on..but th e logo is off for the most part, that seems to raise a red flag, what do you think?

I have a noctua NH-D9L I was going to return, but I'm thinking to return the aio and use the low mass noctua. Will that cool a stock 7700K reasonably?

Yeah try the noctua. With a properly functioning AIO the CPU temps should rise slowly as the water warms up slowly. Then when the load drops the temps should take a while to drop as the water slowly cools down. The spikes make me think there is something wrong.

hey guys,

I have installed the Noctua around 10 mins ago, and its peaking (so far) at 56c and the idle temp is at 25c. Going to return the AIO and keep the Noctua.

And pingu, yeah mate, I took the plastic cover off and reapplied the thermal paste.

one more thing guys, just been letting the CPU bed in for a little, I just ran "intel burn test".. and the CPU was peaking temps at 86c

am I right in saying that, it will be less Celsius for games as that program is pushing things to the limit?

just ran BF1 for a little, temps peaking in the mid 60's. So reasonable, and my GPU is no longer getting bottlenecked! Yaayyyy! Will keep an eye on the system for now though to make sure all is well.

What load exactly?? AVX Prime or similar this is high but not crazy high.

Check the mount and the TIM, check the Vcore at stock and the VCCSA and IO as these are also effecting temps a lot if pushed. High speed RAM often finds a board going to high on these voltages.
