So for a long time now ive either been messing around with small desktop speakers like Edifier G2000 or Creative T20's which I was actually quite impressed with, but being a musician, I wanted something with a bit more heart to it, so for a while now ive been ordering and returning various studio speakers from the rainforest.......I bet they are getting fed up with me ordering and returning, ive tried house of marley speakers which were just complete junk, they looked good but thats as far as it went, if you like your music to sound like its being played from the local public toilet, then these are the speakers for you, amongst many others.

But after reading some threads on these forums, I started looking at Edifier MR4 and MR3 speakers, I went for the MR3's in the end as they have more features, were cheaper, and slightly smaller than the MR4's, OMG why didnt I do this so long ago, these things rock, instruments ive never heard in music before are coming through loud and clear, I should have known better to be honest as the G2000's had a pretty decent sound, but not a scratch on these.

Yeah I've been impressed with my 1280dbs, for the price they are decent.

Really makes me want to upgrade the speakers to the AV unit in the lounge now, but very much ££££ which don't have.

One thing I have noticed though is that sound from TV isn't as good as sound from Blu-ray, which I presume is to do with compression. Similar to Spotify doesn't sound anywhere near as good as CD, which is obviously due to the compression,

They are pretty unbeatable for the price

Is there really any point going for something like Mackie CR3 or Kanto ORA's, is there really that much of a difference which is a couple of the other speakers I was looking at, they were going to be my next move if these MR3's weren't any good, but its quite a price difference, or is there a massive noticeable difference.

There's only really one real weakness with the MR3/4's though, and that there's no passthrough and filter for a bass speaker for the < 50db sounds. You can do some mish-mash connections to sort of get by, but speakers with dedicated passthrough would make it easier.

Thunder really rolls along in test audio with a low frequency bass speaker, but without it, you do lose out those < 50db sounds. And depending on the instruments you might play, might have an impact on reproduction.

The Mackie CR3's are garbage. The only worthwhile upgrade in a similar size is the Adam D3V imo. T5V/Kali LP-6 if space is not a constraint.
