So I just recieved "Da Box" case and I'm transfering everything into it. I attached the motherboard to the tray but when I looked at the I/O plate the connections weren't lined up very well. So I thought "alright, I'll take it off again and put some washers between the standoffs and the mobo to lift it up abit. I unscrewed it all and tried to take the board off the tray... nope, it must be still attached somewhere. Must have forgot a screw... nope there are definatley no screws. Lets try again with a bit more force... still no, WTF? It's like it's been super glued to the stand offs.

WHAT DO I DO?!

lol, seriously it's totally stuck on. It's not like if I put a bit of force behind it a corner will bend because it's only stuck at a certain point, it seems likes it's welded to the board at every stand off.

The standoffs are built onto the mobo tray so maybe they are a bit thin and by over tightening the screws they've wedges them selves into the screw holes? Doesn't look like that though, feels more like it's been super glued or magnitised.

I transferd the whole mobo with my cooler and ram still attached from my old case. Plus there is a hole in the tray so you can remove/attach back plates without having to take the whole mobo out.

I've looked between the tray and the mobo and nothing is touching. The only point of contact are the stand offs.

Ok, after a closer look I think this is what actually has happened. Why the hell would you make the standoffs so small that can happen? It's not like I tightened the screws that much.

Don't know how I'm going to get it off without damaging the mobo.

Edit:It's really not budging at all :(

Edit: I really must have tightened them more than I thought; I nearly snapped a paint brush handle trying to prise it off. Still no luck.

I'll do that if I can't get it off soon. They're probably going to say I must have tightened the screws a ridiculous amount though. I really have no idea how this has happened.

I've tried pushing it out using a screw driver, I'll giver it ago with a gentle tap of the hammer.

It's not like was over zealous with a particular screw, they've all done it. On the other hand you would expect them to come back out fairly easily if they had gone in so easily.

Well actually I still live at home with my own parents, so no kids and no one is in at the moment but will be later. I've got thermal paste though, sounds like you have some kind of crazy plan :D

P.S the hammer idea didn't really work.

Well obviosly I will be much more careful in the future but the problem right now is getting my motherboard off the motherboard tray.

This is so silly. I'm suprised no one has posted just to laught at me yet :D

I might just finish the build anyway, it's not like I plan to change my mobo anytime soon, lol

I'm certainly going to contact lan gear and see what they say, even if it means they just re design the stand offs for a future revision.

I've just left it. I figured theres no point risking breaking the motherboard whilst I want to use it. I'll just wait untill I actually want to replace it and then it wont matter so much if I break it trying to get it out :)

Having a problem fitting my hard drive in this case though, my ram heat sinks get in the way of the hdd cage so I had to take it out. Also my PSU is a little big and blocks one of the fan holes lol

Well I just left it and finished the build. Had to stick my mechanical hdd to the side of my psu with velcro pads though :D

I will upload some pictures eventually.

Well this is the e-mail I got back

Hello,

It was a known problem that on some motherboard it could happen.
It is hard to pull off the motherboard but it is possible.

But, why do you want to remove the motherboard ?
What can I do for you ?

I would have got something cheaper if there was really anything else similar worth having.

There are a few little things I was a bit disappointed with considering the price but now it's built and sitting on my desk I'm quite please with it :)
