Hey guys, just wondering what you would recommend to add to my Asus P5N-E sli mobo.

i've got a q6600 that won't overclock, and i want a cheap but decent dual core that i can get to around 3.4 - 3.6, and a good hsf to keep temps cool.

any suggestions?

Cheers

Yeah, i know about the issues with quads and my motherboard, i'd rather just change the cpu then motherboard, and have a spare q6600 for something else.

With the processor you suggested, is the a real difference between dual core, and a core 2 duo?

There is no point overclocking that dual core to 3.4ghz or there abouts, if it doesn't beat a q6600 at 2.4ghz.

And thanks for the time :)

An E5200/5300 would be a great choice plus an Akasa 965 cooler. Thats the combo im using and my E5300 is sitting sweet at 3.73Ghz

Assuming your Q6600 is a G0 you should get at least 3Ghz out of it on a 650i board :)
