On-board Vs. audigy

Which would you choose? I have just found an old Soundblaster Audigy card in my cupboard. Im currently using the onboard sound on my Asus A8n-sli deluxe. Should I plug the audigy into my 5.1 speakers? Will I notice a difference? I rarely play any games but I like my music and have a tv card.

Definitely go with the Audigy. Just about any soundcard sounds better than onboard sound. It'd make a big difference for games since it supports better EAX and such, but even if you don't play games music should sound a lot nicer.

Yup. Even my sb live sounds better than my mates decent rig with onboard sound

They cost <£5 nowadays

im now on an Audigy 2 after being on on-board (dfi ultra-D) and you can tell the difference... much clearer better bass too

I am also going to recommend a dedicated sound card as the onboard sound I listened to was lacking in quality and it was noticeable.
I only have an Audigy 2ZS but I plan on upgrading to a Xi-Fi soon :cool:
