On demand AV scanner

Is there such a thing as an AV scanner that only runs when I want it to? So it's not actually installed as such, doesn't run or use any processes, I'd manually update signatures and then initiate a scan manually when I wanted it to check the PC out.

Online scanners from kaspersky, or norton, or panda do this sort of thing.
Unsure how good they are, would need a net connection.

Mse very small footprint, shouldn't slow you down.

Get something like Malware bytes, you just install it and then run it whenever you need it.

Microsoft Safety Scanner, DrWeb Cure It, Hitman Pro, Malwarbytes only ones i usebut you could always install a antivirus and just turn off real-time and use it as on-demand, quite a few people do this with Avira & Microsoft security essetials.
