For some reason I do not know, every time I press the power button my PC these days, it turns on for a second, then of for about 2 seconds and then turns back on again, and I don't know what the cause is :(

Can anyone help me please

My Specs are:

e8500 @ 3.16GHz
Ati Radeon 4850
Asus P5Q Pro
Corsair HX-520 (Modular)
OCZ-Gold 4gb memory (2x2gb)
Antec 300

Thanks in advance

mine started doing that with an OC but when i went back to stock it was fine. dont know if it was the bios testing the saftey or somthing or not.

Try loading optimised defaults in the bios and then save them

Have you always had this exact setup? Ever used different RAM? It could be trying to use those settings as an example

Yup ive has this same setup for a year now, and it hasn't let me down once (until now :P), and I havent changed anything in the bios but i'll try that

Also, are you turning the system off at the wall, a lot of boards will perform this "dual boot" if power has been removed from the system, as opposed to shutting it down via windows start and leaving the mains switch on.

Are you by any chance turning the power off at the wall? If I remember right, when I had a P5Q-E, which is similar to your P5Q Pro, if I switched the power of at the wall overnight it would also do this double boot from cold. In fact I've just tried it on my brothers PC which has a P5Q-E and it does the exact same thing.

Bah, beaten to it by setter :)

yup, I do switch if off from the wall, saving the energy :) , but why is it doing it now, not a year ago when I made it?

I'm really surprised no one knows what this is.

It's nothing to worry about. It's a common self-test feature that some boards have to make sure your clocks are stable before committing to loading Windows. It is perfectly normal.
