So I'm in the market for a new bike, gravel preferably as I intend to go bike packing during the summer months. This means attachment points are needed along with decent gearing for hilly climbs and carrying luggage.

I've spotted a potential deal on a bike for 1200 which is the Merida Silex 600 from 2019 so not the latest model but it fits comfortably in my budget, allowing for different tyres as the ones that come supplied are a bit small and not tubeless ready by the looks of it.

Bike is SRAM Apex with hydraulic discs, 44t front, 11-42 cassette. Thinking I may need to change the ring to 38-40 but other than that it all seems good.

Any thoughts or suggestions/alternatives?

I have a Merida and it seemed like one of the best options and really good value for money. the only other place i'd check out is canyons official site and their outlet bikes

Have you looked at Sonder Bikes? The Camino to me seems to be a well specced bike and you can contact Alpkit (Main company) and they can change certain parts of the spec for you too which saves on having to change the tyres / gearing yourself.
