I do a lot of kayaking (white water kind) and want to take a camera with me to capture some of my amazing paddling. Can anyone suggest a good digi camera for less than £200. I have looked at the waterproof pentax range but it doesn't have to be waterproof (i can keep it in a waterproof case and take it out whilst on the bank for example, but splashproof is a must).
It needs to be quite quick as kayaking isn't a slow sport.
Any suggestions greatly welcomed!

I think this is quite a toughie - lots of compacts have option waterproof housings, but they come in at about £100 themselves - which kind of kills your budget.
Then there's the fact that you want it to be quite quick, which compacts just... Aren't.

Sorry, not really what you wanted to hear - but perhaps it'll prompt someone to come in here and prove me wrong, which would be nice :)

I can get a peli case for keeping the camera in when I go canoeing and take it out of the case when I'm safely at the waters edge. So no need to factor the case into the equation. I'm not massively into photography, so won't need anything like an SLR or anywhere near that spec. Just something with a (half) decent start up time and shot to shot time.
So does that help to widen the choice a bit
