Somehow get o2 to take of the Bolton of unlimited Internet access? Thus reducing your bill by £7. I say this as I'm thinking of selling the iPhone and replacing it with a phone which doesn't need the access. I'm sure i've read somehere that you can

You mean an official iPhone contract for a 3G?

In that case, no you can't. If it is any other type of contract then maybe 02 would.

No you can't, it's an included bolt-on that you can't get rid off.

You can change it to other bolt-ons though iirc.

An iPhone without the data transfer is pretty useless. My housemate doesn't have any data on his (He can't add the bolt on to his contract as it's done through his dad's company or something) and it's really limiting. A friend at work spent £50 in his first week on PaYG with his iPhone because of data transfer. You may not think you will, but you will miss it.

I wouldn't want to be without it. By some quirk when I top up the £10 for the unlimited data bolt-on I get 500 texts thus meaning the phone costs little to run as I don't make many calls.

Why add free texts when theres probably a 3rd party web app that can use your free webtexts via the internet on the iPhone?

Ease of use. The webtexts apps can be poorly supported and not work all the time. Plus they require an internet connection that isn't everywhere. Was in the Lake District at the weekend, diving and didn't have any internet signal although having a little phone signal.
