Onboard AC97 + Creative Soundblaster together?

I've recently reinstalled Richard Burns rally since my new TFT upgrade, but i am having frequent lock ups in just this one game.

However, i also installed a creative soundblaster (basic OEM) to give that extra bit of quality whilst playing games etc prior to me last playing the game.

I have a feeling this maybe causing the crashes, so i was wondering if its possible to install my onboard AC97 over the top so that i have 2 audio devices, but only use the one to test to see if it is the creative drivers that are at fault.

Also, i take it that the "onboard AC97" needs to be disabled in the bios when only using the sound card itself?

Some guys on here have 3 installed,no seriously.You can have them both active you just have to pick which one you want dealing with the sound in `control panel/sounds`.
Have you checked website for patch/update to game? (that might fix those things).
