I have a Gigabyte DS3p which should have gigabit lan onboard.
the driver in device manager is called Marvel Yukon gigabit controller.

but when i connect it up to my gigabit switch which has an LED for gigabit connection stays off, and just the normal LAN LED is on.

I go to device manager to change it to 1000mbps full duplex and that option is not there. 100mbps is the highest listed.

So how do I get it to run at full speed?

thanks

Some NICs can't be manually set to 1Gbps, they have to be left on auto-sense. What device are you plugging into?

unmanaged cheapo one.
but my icy box NAS box which has gigabit interface is detected as gigabit.

using cat5e.

even when i left it to auto sense its not detected as a gigabit interface

I have seen cheapy cables which come with switches / routers only have 4 wires in them. Make sure your cable is an all pins connected one. Gigabit requires 3 pairs out of the 8 wires.

My PC just connected at 100Mbps, changed cable, restarted PC, even updated NIC driver (which caused my PC to lock).
Other PC was running at 1GB, router connected at 100mb.

Restarted my GS605, and all works fine now. Apparently they sometimes do it, and need a restart. Might be worth a try.

Netgear GS605?

No small wonder it didn't work properly - i had exactly the same problem with the 8 port version and i know TRX has had issues with the 5 port version too.

The only way it would link properly sometimes required a combination of power cycling and unplugging/replugging the cables.
