Onboard Graphics question

ive finanlly decided what im going to do about a new pc for my missus and that is to buy new and buy one of them barebones from this site that only require Ram and HDD(maybe CPU) and have it as a xmas present which i think can be financially possible.. could buy used for less and probably use bits from her N1, but ideally want the option of 4gb plus..

on the basis the 250gb sata HDD my missus has with XP HP SP1 on it is compatible then i would only be looking at a 2nd but larger HDD and use 2gb of fast Ram(max being 8-32)) to get her going then upgrade to more and win7 64bit..

now the actual question in hand is, the onboard graphics on some of the kits sound really good, but what i want to know is despite being newer and onboard, are they better than a Geforce 8500GT 256mb? as if they are then i can hold out for a GPU at a later date.

Kits as followed:(Ram HDD CPU required)

(HDD required)

now as i looked up, that last one i linked is basically what i want to achieve lol, but now wondering if i could do better for similar price using one of the other kits?

so yeah basically are the onboard Graphics for each of those better than the 8500GT?

think thats all i was planning on asking, so thanks for reading.

Have included a 1TB hdd(£50) bargain and a HD5450 for better graphics. The OCUK Psus should be avoided. Mobo is out of stock atm, but has sata 6gb and USB 3.0 .

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) £49.99
1 x Gigabyte H61MA-D3V Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £43.99
1 x Intel Celeron G540 2.50GHz Socket LGA 1155 Processor - Retail £34.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £32.99
1 x MSI HD 5450 1024MB GDDR5 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card £29.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £25.99

Total : £255.53 (includes shipping : £10.50).

To answer your question the Geforce 8500GT 256mb is better than the G540 graphics, but not by much.

thanks for that and i thought the G540 was a just a CPU or is it because its a shared thing??

as for budget i was going to look upto the cost of that kit i linked if her sata is compatible, but i think its just a sata or sata 2, cant remember without looking, but id imagine its an older version given the age of her mobo, so if that is to be the case a copy of win7 32bit or 64bit depending on price will be required along with a HDD, so for arguement sake £200 max to get everything to a simple stage and to get her up and running sooner(well xmas) rather than later..

however she has been going on about a laptop so she can sit next to me or take to bed(not as a replacement pc), so im looking at options within my original budget of the desktop and may get her one of them(nothing too fancy) and hold back on the desktop more so seeing your spec you given me ;), that would be more than capable of what she wants and at a very good price compared to other less specced systems for more, so gives me the chance to save up, that is unless i can get lucky and buy a cheapo but good laptop for 100 and put the rest towards the desktop and do both ha.
