Hi all this is my first post.
I am looking to get myself a new mobo bundle.
Thing is money is a bit tight.
How would the onboard graphics of a new mobo compare to my old
Nvidia 7300gt 512mb.

Thats half the problem, so many to choose from.
I'm looking to get an intel Q6600 processor.
Not got a lot to spend , £200.
I just need the processer , heatsink +fan , and mobo.
Got ram already , just cant afford a gfx card yet.
I dont really do much gaming.
Thanks for the speedy replies.:)

If you're really skint just grab a 7600GT second hand for about 20 quid, far better than any onboard graphics.

TBH if your 7300gt is PCI-E I'd be inclined to keep it and get a good p35/45 board and save for a better card. I've put together a couple of systems for friends in the last year based on the G65 chipset which has the Intel x3000 graphics onboard. Firstly games are literally unplayable and secondly the onboard graphics severely limit any overclocking (which means even if you get a half-decent card in the future your board won't be able to overclock your CPU to any great extent).

Can't imagine the latest boards, which support the slightly updated x3100 graphics chip being anything much better, unfortunately.

Not too sure about the AMD equivelant but seem to remember an article recently that compared them where the AMD came out slightly ahead but still made most games practically unplayable.

No the 7300gt is an agp card.
Ok i will save up for a bit longer and go pci-e.
Deffo want to go quad core.
What about mobo reccomendations , a good mobo for £100 or under.

My current setup is
Asrock k7s8x
Athlon xp2600 thoroughbred B
Over five years old now and still going strong.

An AMD 780G + AMD quad CPU would outperform any Intel based board with Intel graphics in the vast majority of games. You'd still be better off getting a cheaper or 2nd hand discreet card though.

If you can't possibly squeeze a gfx card in you should go the AMD route, their 780G chipset puts Intel's IGPs to shame.

EDIT: And same performance as a 2400 dedicated card.

Intel's drivers for the X3100 must be broken, the 900-series IGPs aren't that slow...

Oh, I remember...2 texture units vs 4. No wonder :o
