Onboard HDMI Resolution problems help!!!

Hi all, I built this Media PC...

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H
CPU Core 2 duo E4500 2.2ghz
Memory Corsair 2gb DDR2 6400
HDD Spinpoint 750gb

I Have it outputting to my 46" sony Bravia Via the onboard HDMI but for some reason if i set the screen up to output if i set the resolution above 1242x692 @ 60hz then not only will the screen not fit the tv but also it won't allow any higher than 30hz?

Is there anyway of me outputting this to 1080I, is there a 3rd party software for this?

Powerstrip can do custom resolutions, but have you checked with the manual/gigabyte if the onboard is capable of this?
