Hi all,
I bought a new system from OCUK this week, my motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H with an onboard Realtek RTL8111E network chip. My issue is I can't seem to get the network card to show anywhere.
So here's the status.
After googling around and not finding much on the subject I'm kinda stumped now. I'm assuming for what ever reason my RTL8111E chip is fried. If anyone has any other ideas please say. I think I'll just go out and grab a 10/100/1000 network card otherwise. They are fairly cheap after all.
Thanks

By the way the Captcha on these forums is absolutely atrocious. It took me around 15 mins to try and decipher what on earth the characters were trying to spell out. Please please change it for your own sake if not for that of your users!

So here's the status.
- I can plug in a RJ-45 cable and the light shows up (only one signal light).
- In the Device Manager there is no sign of any networking device (or any unknown / errored device).
- I have installed the bundled motherboard drivers, downloaded the latest drivers and also installed those.
- I've flashed the BIOS to the latest version (F11).
- The BIOS shows that the H/W LAN is enabled and I've tried every combination of BIOS LAN settings.
- There is also a SMART LAN Diagnostic tool in the BIOS that doesn't seem to show any information. In the motherboard manual it seems to say even if not connected it should show 'the status field on all four pairs of wires will show open'. I just seem to get Virtual Cable Test and no other information.
- I've checked the IRQ mappings and again can't see anything that looks like a Realtek network card (or any invalid mappings)
- I can't see any motherboard jumpers that would relate to the network chip.
- I've cleared the BIOS by removing the battery & using the CMOS pin jumper.
- I've tried loading Failsafe defaults as well as optimised defaults to no avail.
