I currently am using the onboard sound system on my PC with a pair of PC speakers that cost me £25 but look nice and put out the sound loud enough for me. However I was wondering if I would be likely to notice any difference in a seperate soundcard if I was to buy one?

It would be used for playing MP3's and games.

Yep, if you have money to spend on upgrading your sound, spend it on speakers instead. It sounds like your happy with your current ones anyhow, but higher budget ones will not just be louder but will be clearer and have an extended frequency response. They should generally sound better and be more enjoyable to listen to.

I run my HiFi Seps through my onboard sound, Audigy 2ZS is poop compared for music playback in my opinion.

With those speakers, keep it as it is.

I can definitely hear crackling and artifacts when I turn my amp up higher than about 9 o'clock. I would certainly like a new sound card, but with a massive lack of funds right now that's not an option. It sounds fine, but not amazing.
