Hi all

Im about to buy a 5600x and a 550 mobo to go with it. My current itx board has onboard wifi. Looking at boards now, filtering out non wifi versions really reduces my options and actually for my price range is pushing me to need to take an matx board.

So, are the usb or pci wireless solutions better than what typically comes onboard a mobo? If it is or equal id be tempted to do that, would work out the same overall cost just id end up with a bigger board

You have a limited number of chipsets available that support WiFi. Unless you are placing them on an interface that is bandwidth limited, then in simple terms they will perform very similarly, of course things like antennae position and size come into play and are more relevant and obviously hard wired gigabit is preferable.

Board wise having more slots means having more options, if you have a case that will take a larger board then generally it makes sense to get a larger board.
