So last night i decided to watch this movie for the first time as its a so called classic. But to be honest i cant understand why it was such a big hit many years ago. Apart from the cast that probably persuaded people to see it. But then in the ratings on the imdb it is so high up?

It was such a slow boring movie with barely any dialogue. Now i'm not impatient when i watch movies i appreciate many classics (a favourite of mine being 12 angry men). So for those of you that have seen it on here whats your view? Is it a movie i should watch again and you begin to appreicate and understand the more you see of it?

LeoN :)

It's Sergio Leone - it's about mood not dialogue.

One of the greatest opening scenes in movie history.

Casting Henry Fonda as the child murdering bad guy was pretty radical.

Morricone's score.

But I agree it is slow paced and best appreciated by Leone fans.

I have to admit, I did prefer some of his other films.
The Clint Eastwood trilogy being the obvious ones.
Still... The same as what Geezer said.
