What sounds like a group of singers singing "Batmaaaannn" constantly throughout the song is actually very clever use of horns and not singers at all.

I remember it the first time round

I never realised it was horns that did the 'Batman'.
If I was asked in a pub quiz 'What words are sung in the Batman theme?' I would have said Batman and argued about it.
Its so obvious now and I've just asked my wife the same question and then provided the evidence.

That's a bit like the one -
What words are sung after 'Hi Ho Hi Ho, its off to work we go' and some people will argue to death what the words are.

I'll leave that question open.

Just had a straw poll round the office. The general consensus was that it said 'batman' throughout and there were no other words.

I certainly believed it and had to listen again to be sure.

Without having looked it up, I may be wrong, but most would say 'with a shovel and a pick and a walking stick...' however all I remember is whistling and the 'Hi-ho' again.
