its time to upgrade from my 19" Belinea and it seems Dell is by far the most popular way to go. I will either go for one 2407 or two 2007's. It seems like a lot of extra money for those extra 4" when i could get two 2007's for the same price, and be getting a lot more desktop space.

The monitor/s will be used for;
UNI: ProE (CAD), Photoshop, Office, Internet,
PLEASURE: Poker (multi tables), Movies, music, internet, the odd game.

seeing as i have only ever used a single 19" monitor before im not in the best position to say which setup would be the best so any advice would be welcome.

Keeping the 19"?

If uni > entertainment then 2x2007, if entertainment > uni then 2407. If you're using CAD then the extra space of the 2407 is a great asset, but you lose the ability to have stuff open on the other page (easy place for help file/msn/Word/pic or tech drawings you're copying/etc).

Sounds like you're doing a proper degree, a 2001FP and 2405FPW got me through my MEng a lot more easily than my housemate's 17" allowed him. :D

TBH, I have 2x 2007FPW, and wouldnt want just 1 monitor anymore. 2 monitors is far to useful TBH.

I am constantly using both monitors, and I hate using a computer with 1 monitor now... it feels unnatural.

Still can't make up my mind. Even tho i could afford it if i really want, do i need to spend that much on a monitor? Would one 2007 be just fine. or is a 2407 really that much better?

I agree to with Dark Angel, two monitors are far more useful that 1. I also have 2x 2007WFP and they rock :)

Why not go for a single 2007WFP and a Dell 19" (http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=50799) which costs just £162? This would give you a good widescreen monitor (I've just got my 2007 and am really pleased with it) and a second monitor of similar vert resolution to give you the flex of a separate monitor for additional docs. I've tried a dual screen setup and have to admit that this is the way to go. I was personally undecided between a single 2007 or dual 19"s but finally decided to go for the single 2007. This does give me a good sized desktop for video editing and photo manipulation. A second monitor would give me extra flexibility however, desk space is a consideration for me at the moment but I am tempted to get a 19" to complement the 2007 in the future.

Bottom line is that I found that it's not an easy choice!
