One 7950.... What to Do Next?

There has not been that many driver updates in that time..

Theres an article here that talks about the latest beta drivers almost fixing the micro stutter on a 7990 (7990 being two 7970's)

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/08/01/amd_catalyst_138_beta_frame_pacing_crossfire_driver/

Anyway, do your research on it.

I don't need to do research. I've owned many xfire setups, during the dark days and during the days now where xfire is a pleasure and not a chore.

Have owned 2x 1900XTX, 2x X1950XTX, 2x 2900XT, 2x 6950 and now using 2x7950. Never had it so good as we do now. The frame pacing drivers which you linked have fixed microstutter. Not almost, fixed completely on single screen.

I have to suspect trolling here. Who would ignore the last 6 months of driver updates when referring to Crossfire usability unless baiting.

I didnt mean you matt, i meant the op. And from what i got from the article was that its better most of the time, but still happens.

Im not trolling, check my build log, just got rid of the 6950's.

And current experience of crossfire was having to disable one card while playing RTW2 due to UI bugs. (not that the game wasn't massively bugged anyway.)

Do research on what exactly? IF youre talking about xfire issues, then I obviously have since ive stated that it seems like no one has these problems.
If you mean about getting another 7950 etc. then i am researching right now. By asking (mostly) helpful people on here about it.

Wumyster I have recently gone xfire pairing my GBWFX3 7950 with the His IceQ Boost 7950 and I am delighted. At the moment I am happy to run both cards at 925 cores and play my two favourite games, Crysis 3 and Farcry 3 capped at 59.9fps and nothing over 64c (I have good cooling in my case). I have the IceQ in the top slot and it does a great job of dumping the heat out of my case. Couldn't be happier, especially with the less than exciting Amd ' New card' re-jig. (Gutted they just copied Nvidia) :D

Good to know. If im short of money then i guess ill have to go with the HIS. Its ugly but at the end of the day, I need another 7950 anyway since some games dont run very well.

I too am going to pair my windforce 7950 with the his ice q just purely for the fact that the ice q dumps the air out;) Bit worried how xfire 7950s will pair with my 3570k @4.5ghz since bf4 is straining a lot on hardware now :(

I have almost the exact same specs as rolypolyman and spent a long time thinking about another 7950 - when I looked at the IceQ on offer it is a bid card (bigger than my WF) and there was no way it would fit in my case which was already a squeeze. If you get another WF I guess you will be fine, but just a word of caution about the size. I'll pick up another card soon - just looking at the R9 280Xs which would appear to xfire ok with 7950s though will be the same as adding in a current 7970 GHz card. so probably overkill. Oh, and I game across three screens so the extra grunt is overdue.

My 7950's match :D

2013+-+1

Hi almighty15

I notice in your photo that you are using Lian Li 140mm External PCI Cooler Silver BS06A over your cards.

Does it work well?

As I am thinking buying one to help remove some of the hot air vented from my HD7990 & HD7970 crossfire setup

Thanks
