So...after thinking putting a shiny new Swiftech waterblock on the GTO would be a good idea, whilst hungover, I am now left with what seems to be a dead card :[

No idea what happened, but think I crushed the core. Either that or I was a little too passionate about making those damn ram sinks stick, and crushed one of them :D

hmmm G80 all of a sudden looks good ;D

Dont suppose theres anyone with an idea I could try to sort this card out. Got nothing to lose :P
 
Yeah I thought maybe the card wouldnt work if the fan wasnt plugged in, so refitted the stock cooler and turned it on. The fan just wooshes constantly instead of a short burst now :/

Maybe you could try the gfx card in another pc?
or try another gfx card in your pc? :)

Feel for you mate. :( I hate it when things go that wrong. I only just sent a post bout the risk of changing GPU coolers for water cooling as the gains raeless pay off and stuff can go horribly wrong.

I guess you could buy another and tell yourself you bought a 7900gtx??? :confused: why thats what I would prob do :p

Your idea bout G80 sounds good though, I would and I love this idea borrow a rubbish card for now play at 800x600 then when G80 comes it will be even more amazing so amazing infact the cost of G80 and the loss of the GTO will fade into oblivion!!!! :p :D

Thanks guys, Im not that fazed by it which is weird. I guess I gotten used to it after sodding around with stuff and it dying :D

What annoys me is the fact that I should have used a shim but didnt give it thought. My old card has one I could have pryed that off :/

Im back on my old 6800GT at the moment now. It was nice having a faster card but this one plays everything I got at a pretty decent rate anyway.

Not gonna shell out for another card just yet. Gonna see what price drops crop up in the next 3 weeks due to G80 ;)
 
So your all acting like the G80 is really soon its october, is there a release date before Christmas or something??? I thought it would be more like Jan release with small delay it will widely avalible in like feb???

January, where you been hiding, G80 is released on the 8th November, which is ony 18 days away, just over a fortnight. :D
 
It feels like all year I have been hearing DX10 cards are really soon, on BF2 when I got my x1900xtx and sold 7800gtx really early this year, I think in January people were like 'OMG you idiot DX10 is gunna be in easter' then heard online might be summer and now I have had my card a whole year by the time they come out. Its unreal if it really is 2 weeks. However I am just being gay when I say I dont thinK the G80 seems that amazing, i feel lil unamazed by the specs?

Yeah G80 is 8th November, but DX10 is not released until Vista, which is end of Jan/Feb, so its £500 smackers for a few more frames in DX9, thats all. :D :D
 
LOL LOL LOL have I gone and being an ATI boy thought G80 willl be release about the same time as ati's R600 (Jan). i must have been dx10 = r600 = jan+ati delay = feb lol :D

ahhh i see. so in my head I am now saying seeing as dx10 is vista, ati cards will be released then anyways so make my choice then when I can use dx10???
 
Yeah R600 is around then as its coming around the time Vista hits, makes sense really seen as DX10 can't be used till then, and DX9 cards out today can still cut through Dx9 fine, G80 is going to be old by then, and the refreshed faster G80 will be coming when Vista comes as well probably. :D :D

G80's probably gona be the slowest DX10 card even before DX10 is released, gota be a first that. :p

The first DX10 card on the market, but the slowest before it can even be used. :p
