Hey all,

Woke up yesterday to a dead PC and have since worked out that its due to my watercooling pump being dead :(

Now, the pump in question is the following:

Linked removed. Basically, its the Asetek WaterChill Xtreme 12V

Its got 10mm fittings and I'm struggling to find a replacement due to the combo of pump and res..

So, is there any way of using the followings pump:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-028-XS&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=1042

If so, which extra fittings would I need. A couple of years ago I would have had the answers, but have been out of the loop for a bit, no pun intended

Any help appreciated, as I'm PC'less :(

Cheers

You'll need to host the image at photobucket/imageshack etc.

Are you talking about 8/10mm metic tube/fittings - the stuff Zalman and the german companies use?

If so you can get 8mm ID barbs with a G1/4 thread that fit that pump or use 3/8 ID (9.5) and really work the tube on the barbs

Photobucket is blocked at work for some reason..

But yeah, the 10mm refers to the outer diameter of the tubing that is simply pushed into the pump/res (you'll see a picture of it if you search Asetek WaterChill Xtreme 12V on google images.. the first page is full of them)

clicky:

So lets 'pretend' i'm dumb. If I went into OcUK today (being a stokey), do they have everything that I would need in their fittings section?

Cheers

Try forcing your 8/10mm hose over 3/8" barbs as shadowscotland says, or you could just replace the 8/10mm tube lengths either side of your pump with 3/8" tube and simply fit the appropriate barbs to the blocks/rad whatever which are before/after the pump. It may look slightly odd if everything else is compression fittings but at least it will work and get the job away. This is if you can't easily get hold of proper 8/10mm fittings at short notice, since time seems to be your limiting factor.

Well almost... it's the barbs that's the problem.
You could use half of a Alphacool 8mm Bulkhead Screw Connector.
That would give you a 8/10 compression fitting with a G1/4 thread (ditching the female threaded part)
If these are one piece you'll stuffed or need a hacksaw :(

Or used use 3/8 barbs and some hot water to dip the end of the tubing in

Use these on any pump with detachable barbs.

If he wants a quick solution to get his pc going then either method is fine. My method is guaranteed to work, as long as the threads on his water block/rads are G1/4 (3/8" if a thermochill rad). He will just end up with a say a cpu block with a 8/10mm tube going into a compression fitting on one side and 3/8" tube on a 3/8" barb on the other, similarly on the rad, if a rad is before the pump. It will just look a bit odd, until he can sort out proper 8/10 fittings for the pump at which point he can put everything back to 8/10. Basically get two 3/8" fittings for your pump, one 3/8" fitting for the cpu block and one for the rad and some 3/8" hose.

edit: If it was me however I would just get the proper 8/10 fittings for the new pump and just do without the main pc for a few days.

Thanks for the help guys...

but..

Lets 'pretend' once again that I'm a bit slow with all this nowadays. Is what your saying, basically, that I can buy the new pump from OCUK, and then buy some 3/8" barbs and try to push the tubing I have around that barb to complete my loop (do OCUK sell this barb or will the pump be complete with these?)

Or, buy the pump and then find the correct adapter that is made for the 10mm tubing that I have?

The entire loop is waterchill based so all is made up of the push in fittings (10mm)

Ta muchly

1/4" BSPP - 10/8mm Compression Fitting

Google that. if your tube is 10/8mm then the above should fit your existing fittings. OCUK don't appear to sell these.
