Not long ago my uncle came back from the US and brought back a rather quaint beer with him. It was called 'Mississippi Mud' and was in an old style bottle (the jug type) as you can see:

After seeing the bottle I had to blag a couple off him to try. It wasn't the best beer I've had but I can remember it being rather pleasant and drinkable. Having searched for a year I cannot find a UK supplier or a US supplier willing to ship to the UK.

I'm hoping some of the resident beer enthusiasts can point me in the right direction. Any ideas?

It's not quite the same. The Mississippi Mud had quite a distinctive flavour.

I'm very familiar with Mississippi Mud. You want a good English Porter (not a Stout) such as Fuller's London Porter mixed with a good German Pilsener (whatever you prefer - I like Warsteiner, but you can also use Beck's). It's a 50/50 ratio same as the Harp's / Guinness Black & Tan. You'll find the taste you're looking for. :)

I have two jugs sitting here right now. C'mon over! :D

If you lived anywhere near I'd be round at your door for those jugs :p
Is the stuff you have the home made version or is it the actual stuff?

That reminds me, Asda sell a quite nice (and cheap!) Cider called Scrumpy. It's sold in a big bottle (5 pints?) and it's nice and smooth.

Sweet! I have an (empty) bottle of the exact same stuff sitting right here on my monitor! From what I remember it was alright but not fantastic, an interesting after-taste but not bad at all. Will try and post a picceh of my bottle later!

It's a great bottle though

The real thing. But being a member of a homebrew club helps find clone recipes for such things. ;)

Mega bump...

So I wandered into a bait shop in Grand Isle, Louisiana, looking for some cigar minnows and live shrimp and this is on the shelf. It only took me 7 years :D

I haven't drank it yet. We'll see how it turns out.

I spotted this on the shelf in Lee's Discount Liquor, Las Vegas the other day (am still here). They won't ship anything to the uk unfortunately as I want some Lagunitas brewery beers- they are just insanely good. Probably only way to do it would be to buy some in the US and post a box back....

You can get stuff from Lagunitas over here. I've had a couple of their beers, I know of 2 shops in Glasgow that stock them.
